Narrative:

While making a routine landing on runway 9, wheels of aircraft came in contact with mound of snow piled about 1 1/2' high at approach end. Mound was not high enough to be noticeable during final approach. All 3 wheels of small transport made marks in bound causing jolt similar to hard landing. Aircraft continued onto a normal T/D and roll-out west/O event. Visibility inspection by pilot revealed no obvious damage to undergear or associated structures, such as wheel-well covers or under-belly antennas. Runway is 3000' long and slick from melting ice and snow. Pilot was attempting to use as much of the runway as possible to avoid use of brakes. Northeast crosswind caused left gear to be lower, making first contact. Mound was not high enough to cover runway end identify lights. Snow on field west first officer runway end made perception of mound impossible. Pilot may have been lulled by routine nature of approach and landing on winter-time runway (more concerned with over-running runway).

Title: SMT PLT LANDS SHORT.

Narrative: WHILE MAKING A ROUTINE LNDG ON RWY 9, WHEELS OF ACFT CAME IN CONTACT WITH MOUND OF SNOW PILED ABOUT 1 1/2' HIGH AT APCH END. MOUND WAS NOT HIGH ENOUGH TO BE NOTICEABLE DURING FINAL APCH. ALL 3 WHEELS OF SMT MADE MARKS IN BOUND CAUSING JOLT SIMILAR TO HARD LNDG. ACFT CONTINUED ONTO A NORMAL T/D AND ROLL-OUT W/O EVENT. VIS INSPECTION BY PLT REVEALED NO OBVIOUS DAMAGE TO UNDERGEAR OR ASSOCIATED STRUCTURES, SUCH AS WHEEL-WELL COVERS OR UNDER-BELLY ANTENNAS. RWY IS 3000' LONG AND SLICK FROM MELTING ICE AND SNOW. PLT WAS ATTEMPTING TO USE AS MUCH OF THE RWY AS POSSIBLE TO AVOID USE OF BRAKES. NE XWIND CAUSED LEFT GEAR TO BE LOWER, MAKING FIRST CONTACT. MOUND WAS NOT HIGH ENOUGH TO COVER RWY END IDENT LIGHTS. SNOW ON FIELD W FO RWY END MADE PERCEPTION OF MOUND IMPOSSIBLE. PLT MAY HAVE BEEN LULLED BY ROUTINE NATURE OF APCH AND LNDG ON WINTER-TIME RWY (MORE CONCERNED WITH OVER-RUNNING RWY).
