Narrative:

I was working bear/hart south flow at slc. Aircraft X departed ogd; checking in climbing as usual. I told him radar contact and climbed the aircraft to 9;000. Several seconds later; I realized the aircraft had not rolled out on the 240 heading assigned; so I told the aircraft to turn left immediately. He responded that he was having problems with equipment in his aircraft and asked for vectors. I told him to expect the left turn as no-gyro and got the aircraft turned away from terrain and on course while he worked the issue. The aircraft was subsequently able to regain the failed equipment and continue on course. Aircraft X was still below the mvas on an approximate 340 heading; which is outside of the dva (diverse vector area) ogd can assign headings within.I have no recommendations for changes. Nothing can be done about unexpected situations.
