Narrative:

At 35000' awaiting center clearance to FL370/EICAS indication of '1R ent door' not locked closed. Briefed F/a to disarm slide at this location/door handle observed to lift about 8' and loud air leak around door area. Door handle had automatically disarmed slide. While at FL350 attempts made to resecure handle which was only partially successful. Air leak continued. As were concerned over proper closure we returned to sfo for maintenance check. Improper closure by food service suspected. Compounding this was the entry door arming normally which it is not supposed to do if not correctly latched.
