Narrative:

Evv to owb direct. Clearance af 4000-8000 (10 min) 126.4. I am PF very short flight. 1ST time I have done this particular trip (35 mi approximately). There is VFR small aircraft Y traffic sswbnd southeast of evv 3-4 mi. Also other IFR traffic. We are unaware of both. ATC controller 126.4 is trainee, supervised. We depart runway 4 assigned runway heading and 4000, climbing at 140 KTS, 2500 FPM. At approximately 2000' MSL we are notified of VFR small aircraft Y 11 O'clock, 2000', 1-2 mi and maintain 2500' and proceed direct owb while maintaining visual separation. I turned eastbound (owb being a 140 heading or so) and pushed the nose over as smoothly as possible. Maximum altitude we achieved was 2750' MSL. Also, I started back towards a southeast heading to maintain a safe reasonable distance from VFR small aircraft Y. At this point trainee controller orders 180 heading, now. We comply immediately. Then she orders IFR inbound to maintain 3500' per supervisor orders, I gather. We proceeded owb and landed on schedule. We were to owb tower and talked to its operator, a contract tower for air carrier operations. He knew evv controllers and he called and queried them. They said that there was no problem or incident, just that our east turn had put us very close to their inbound traffic pattern. Also, the 2500' altitude was the normal altitude requested by crews for the flight, however, we were unaware of that and we were filed for 8000'. We never ever saw the possible IFR traffic nor were we advised to look.

Narrative: EVV TO OWB DIRECT. CLRNC AF 4000-8000 (10 MIN) 126.4. I AM PF VERY SHORT FLT. 1ST TIME I HAVE DONE THIS PARTICULAR TRIP (35 MI APPROX). THERE IS VFR SMA Y TFC SSWBND SE OF EVV 3-4 MI. ALSO OTHER IFR TFC. WE ARE UNAWARE OF BOTH. ATC CTLR 126.4 IS TRAINEE, SUPERVISED. WE DEPART RWY 4 ASSIGNED RWY HDG AND 4000, CLIMBING AT 140 KTS, 2500 FPM. AT APPROX 2000' MSL WE ARE NOTIFIED OF VFR SMA Y 11 O'CLOCK, 2000', 1-2 MI AND MAINTAIN 2500' AND PROCEED DIRECT OWB WHILE MAINTAINING VISUAL SEPARATION. I TURNED EBND (OWB BEING A 140 HDG OR SO) AND PUSHED THE NOSE OVER AS SMOOTHLY AS POSSIBLE. MAX ALT WE ACHIEVED WAS 2750' MSL. ALSO, I STARTED BACK TOWARDS A SE HDG TO MAINTAIN A SAFE REASONABLE DISTANCE FROM VFR SMA Y. AT THIS POINT TRAINEE CTLR ORDERS 180 HDG, NOW. WE COMPLY IMMEDIATELY. THEN SHE ORDERS IFR INBND TO MAINTAIN 3500' PER SUPVR ORDERS, I GATHER. WE PROCEEDED OWB AND LANDED ON SCHEDULE. WE WERE TO OWB TWR AND TALKED TO ITS OPERATOR, A CONTRACT TWR FOR AIR CARRIER OPS. HE KNEW EVV CTLRS AND HE CALLED AND QUERIED THEM. THEY SAID THAT THERE WAS NO PROBLEM OR INCIDENT, JUST THAT OUR E TURN HAD PUT US VERY CLOSE TO THEIR INBND TFC PATTERN. ALSO, THE 2500' ALT WAS THE NORMAL ALT REQUESTED BY CREWS FOR THE FLT, HOWEVER, WE WERE UNAWARE OF THAT AND WE WERE FILED FOR 8000'. WE NEVER EVER SAW THE POSSIBLE IFR TFC NOR WERE WE ADVISED TO LOOK.
