Narrative:

50 NM wnw of sln VOR at FL380 encountered severe turbulence +/- 25 KIAS with a one second overspeed of 5 KIAS followed by stick shaker as airspeed fluctuated. Descended to FL370 to avoid turbulence and again got into severe turbulence 80 NM wnw of sln VOR. No overspeed; but did get into stick shaker. Descended to FL320 to avoid turbulence. Event was written up and follow up inspection showed no damage. Cause was clear air turbulence.
