Narrative:
Number two engine did not accelerate past 53 percent on takeoff roll. First officer called for an abort. I aborted at slow speed and cleared the runway. After further evaluation and discussion with maintenance; we returned to the gate.

Title: A B737 Captain reported aborting takeoff when number 2 engine did not accelerate past 53 percent. The crew returned to the gate.
Narrative: Number two engine did not accelerate past 53 percent on takeoff roll. First Officer called for an abort. I aborted at slow speed and cleared the runway. After further evaluation and discussion with Maintenance; we returned to the gate.
