Conducting the localizer 11 approach to oak. After plaza, descended to 300' MDA slightly too soon. Should have waited until passing 'bayfa'. Altitude at bayfa is 460. Misread the approach plain and simple. Brand new first officer. Rainy and turbulent conditions. Not a common approach to oak.
