Narrative:
We were cruising at 2;000 feet and started gradually losing power. I [saw an] airport about 7 miles west of where we were. My instructor started heading for the airport; but he didn't think I could make it; so he saw a nice field next to him and made a successful off airport landing. There was no damage to the aircraft and no injury to occupants.
