While on the VOR/DME-a approach; the engine power indication dropped to zero percent for a few seconds before returning to 75%. All other engine instrument indications were normal. Instructor contacted ATC and returned to [departure airport] via the arrival. No further engine indication abnormalities occurred during return flight.
