Narrative:

I contacted clearance delivery and received my TCA clearance for departure. I then contacted sfo ground control, explained where I was and asked for taxi instructions. The controller told me to taxi to 28R for takeoff and cleared to intersection 'charlie'. In this clearance he told me to taxi across both 10R and 10L via a combination of txwys and intxns. He asked if I was familiar with the airport, and I informed him I was not and he immediately indicated he would assist me to my point of departure. I taxied out and crossed 10R and 10L and proceeded up the taxiway for my departure on 28R. As I taxied up the taxiway I noticed the lights on the intersection markers were dim or nonexistent and I was relieved to have ground control monitoring my departure so closely, or so I thought. Suddenly, I was contacted by ground control and asked to stop and was asked if I realized I had just crossed two perpendicular runways. I informed them I did not. There seemed to be some turmoil in the tower as to what I should do next. After a short wait I was cleared to taxi to the end of 28R and cleared for takeoff. In my clearance instructions from the tower I was given a phone number and asked to call upon reaching my destination. I promptly did and explained myself. They more or less asked if I realized I had taxied across two runways, and I explained that I did not have that knowledge until later. They asked me if I had any recommendations on how this situation could have been avoided. I told them better communications and better lighting on txwys and intxns. They thanked me for calling and told me there would be no further need for correspondence and that no violations or citations were to be given.

Title: PLT OF AMB TYPE ACFT TAXIED ACROSS TWO ACTIVE RWYS WITHOUT CLRNC.

Narrative: I CONTACTED CLRNC DELIVERY AND RECEIVED MY TCA CLRNC FOR DEP. I THEN CONTACTED SFO GND CTL, EXPLAINED WHERE I WAS AND ASKED FOR TAXI INSTRUCTIONS. THE CTLR TOLD ME TO TAXI TO 28R FOR TKOF AND CLRED TO INTXN 'CHARLIE'. IN THIS CLRNC HE TOLD ME TO TAXI ACROSS BOTH 10R AND 10L VIA A COMBINATION OF TXWYS AND INTXNS. HE ASKED IF I WAS FAMILIAR WITH THE ARPT, AND I INFORMED HIM I WAS NOT AND HE IMMEDIATELY INDICATED HE WOULD ASSIST ME TO MY POINT OF DEP. I TAXIED OUT AND CROSSED 10R AND 10L AND PROCEEDED UP THE TXWY FOR MY DEP ON 28R. AS I TAXIED UP THE TXWY I NOTICED THE LIGHTS ON THE INTXN MARKERS WERE DIM OR NONEXISTENT AND I WAS RELIEVED TO HAVE GND CTL MONITORING MY DEP SO CLOSELY, OR SO I THOUGHT. IN MY CLRNC INSTRUCTIONS FROM THE TWR I WAS GIVEN A PHONE NUMBER AND ASKED TO CALL UPON REACHING MY DEST. I PROMPTLY DID AND EXPLAINED MYSELF. THEY MORE OR LESS ASKED IF I REALIZED I HAD TAXIED ACROSS TWO RWYS, AND I EXPLAINED THAT I DID NOT HAVE THAT KNOWLEDGE UNTIL LATER. THEY ASKED ME IF I HAD ANY RECOMMENDATIONS ON HOW THIS SITUATION COULD HAVE BEEN AVOIDED. I TOLD THEM BETTER COMMUNICATIONS AND BETTER LIGHTING ON TXWYS AND INTXNS. THEY THANKED ME FOR CALLING AND TOLD ME THERE WOULD BE NO FURTHER NEED FOR CORRESPONDENCE AND THAT NO VIOLATIONS OR CITATIONS WERE TO BE GIVEN.
