Narrative:
I was told to 'taxi into position and hold' on runway 16L at salt lake city. I read back the clearance and complied. Awaiting takeoff clearance (10-15 seconds later), I heard a loud roar and saw an light transport jet that had just passed overhead and was retracting his gear, going around. The tower asked, 'who's going around on the left?' the go around aircraft answered with his call sign and he was cleared to enter left downwind and to land. I queried the tower twice as to what was going on but got no response. The next thing I heard was my takeoff clearance and I departed.

Title: CTLR TAXIED SMA X INTO POSITION AND HOLD WITH LTT Y ON SHORT FINAL FOR SAME RWY. OPERATIONAL DEVIATION.
Narrative: I WAS TOLD TO 'TAXI INTO POSITION AND HOLD' ON RWY 16L AT SALT LAKE CITY. I READ BACK THE CLRNC AND COMPLIED. AWAITING TKOF CLRNC (10-15 SECONDS LATER), I HEARD A LOUD ROAR AND SAW AN LTT JET THAT HAD JUST PASSED OVERHEAD AND WAS RETRACTING HIS GEAR, GOING AROUND. THE TWR ASKED, 'WHO'S GOING AROUND ON THE LEFT?' THE GAR ACFT ANSWERED WITH HIS CALL SIGN AND HE WAS CLRED TO ENTER LEFT DOWNWIND AND TO LAND. I QUERIED THE TWR TWICE AS TO WHAT WAS GOING ON BUT GOT NO RESPONSE. THE NEXT THING I HEARD WAS MY TKOF CLRNC AND I DEPARTED.
