Narrative:

I exited runway 25R on taxiway 47. First officer contacted ground control and was told to 'hold short of 45'. I stopped the aircraft to make sure we had taxiway 45 properly located. Immediately from the right (my blind side) a widebody transport Y taxied at very high speed from 25L complex across our bow on taxiway 45 into the inner. We were holding short of 45 taxiway and no incident occurred. However, from ground contact call 'hold short of 45' I had immediately applied normal braking and stopped the widebody transport X from 7-8 KTS to a stop. We had just made two 90 degree turns. We were making sure of taxiway 45's location. Ground control gave no indication of the widebody transport Y's path, i.e., 'hold short of next intersection '45', a widebody transport Y is cleared to cross in front of you.'
