Narrative:

On downwind; the a-system engine driven light flickered. There was about 25 percent quantity remaining. We lowered the gear immediately before losing the entire a-system. Shortly thereafter the a-system quantity was zero and both lights were illuminated. We accomplished the checklist on the turn to final and prepared to land. I [advised ATC of the situation] in order to reduce the radio calls for base to final turns and was sent to tower. We landed uneventfully and were able to taxi to the gate.
