Narrative:

After takeoff at iah and while at cruise FL310, engine #3 oil qty had decreased to approximately 2.0 gal (down from 4 1/2 gal at engine start). Throttles was reduced to idle and flight level changed to 280. Rate of decrease was reduced considerably. Company maintenance was notified and engine was shut down for precautionary safety. All appropriate emergency and normal procedures were followed. Flight continued to phx (destination) where approach control was notified of engine out and fire equipment was standing by. Normal engine out approach and landing was made.

Title: INFLT ENGINE SHUTDOWN DUE TO LOSS OF OIL QUANTITY.

FLT CONTINUED TO PHX (DEST) WHERE APCH CTL WAS NOTIFIED OF ENGINE OUT AND FIRE EQUIP WAS STANDING BY. NORMAL ENG OUT APCH AND LNDG WAS MADE.
