Narrative:

During a flight from ads, which lies below the 5000' floor of the dallas TCA to mwl, in 11/89 in an small aircraft, I have reason to believe that the flight path of the aircraft inadvertently intruded into the dfw TCA. The flight departed on runway 33 from ads, climbed to 2500' and leveled off, then proceeded in a northwest-erly direction to overfly lakeview, tx. Lakeview lies under the 3000' floor of the dfw TCA. After passing lakeview, a turn was made to a southwest-erly heading to overfly northwest regional airport, which also lies under the 3000' floor of the dfw TCA. It is on this segment of the flight that an inadvertent intrusion was made into the dfw TCA. It was a n-erly wind that caused the aircraft to drift to the south of the projected track. The aircraft, cruising at 2500' MSL, drifted into a segment of the TCA which has a floor of 2000'. The contributing factors to this event are the fact that the boundaries of the TCA are invisible, that the boundaries do not coincide with natural physical landmarks, and that the boundaries do not coincide with a DME/arc from the dfw VORTAC, but are measured from the geographic center of the dfw airport.

Title: SMA PLT ENTERED TCA DUE TO STRONG WINDS.

Narrative: DURING A FLT FROM ADS, WHICH LIES BELOW THE 5000' FLOOR OF THE DALLAS TCA TO MWL, IN 11/89 IN AN SMA, I HAVE REASON TO BELIEVE THAT THE FLT PATH OF THE ACFT INADVERTENTLY INTRUDED INTO THE DFW TCA. THE FLT DEPARTED ON RWY 33 FROM ADS, CLBED TO 2500' AND LEVELED OFF, THEN PROCEEDED IN A NW-ERLY DIRECTION TO OVERFLY LAKEVIEW, TX. LAKEVIEW LIES UNDER THE 3000' FLOOR OF THE DFW TCA. AFTER PASSING LAKEVIEW, A TURN WAS MADE TO A SW-ERLY HDG TO OVERFLY NW REGIONAL ARPT, WHICH ALSO LIES UNDER THE 3000' FLOOR OF THE DFW TCA. IT IS ON THIS SEGMENT OF THE FLT THAT AN INADVERTENT INTRUSION WAS MADE INTO THE DFW TCA. IT WAS A N-ERLY WIND THAT CAUSED THE ACFT TO DRIFT TO THE S OF THE PROJECTED TRACK. THE ACFT, CRUISING AT 2500' MSL, DRIFTED INTO A SEGMENT OF THE TCA WHICH HAS A FLOOR OF 2000'. THE CONTRIBUTING FACTORS TO THIS EVENT ARE THE FACT THAT THE BOUNDARIES OF THE TCA ARE INVISIBLE, THAT THE BOUNDARIES DO NOT COINCIDE WITH NATURAL PHYSICAL LANDMARKS, AND THAT THE BOUNDARIES DO NOT COINCIDE WITH A DME/ARC FROM THE DFW VORTAC, BUT ARE MEASURED FROM THE GEOGRAPHIC CENTER OF THE DFW ARPT.
