Narrative:

Flight from ft myers, fl to detroit, mi. A line of severe thunderstorms reached from east of detroit southwestward to tx. I had talked to company meteorology department before departure to determine best routing for thunderstorm avoidance. My plan was to follow normal routing of direct lakeland. J73 - J119 taylor, J85 dryer, V26 tripe X, direct detroit. This routing would keep us east of WX until about dryer (cleveland) and then deviations as needed to detroit. Upon taxiing out at ft myers ground control called us with a rerouting which would carry us over atlanta, bowling green, ft wayne, and into detroit from the southwest. We were told the rerouting was because of flow control into detroit. My plan was to have our clearance changed back to our original routing once we were level at cruising altitude (33,000'). My first request was to mia center, denied due to flow control. My second attempt with jax center was denied for the same reason. Finally, altitude center approved our request without hesitation and we had a good ride to dtw. As we passed east of atlanta we heard atl center give holding instructions to aircraft inbound to atl. This was due to a level 5 thunderstorm over atl airport. Tornadoes and severe WX were reported all along what would have been our route if we had followed ATC routing. My complaint is being given a flight plan through such known conditions. Who is behind it and why? This is the second occurrence in 6 months.

Title: ACR REPORTER REFILED FLT PLAN DUE TO WX, BUT RECEIVED ATC CLRNC INTO KNOWN TSTMS ALONG ORIGINAL ROUTE.

Narrative: FLT FROM FT MYERS, FL TO DETROIT, MI. A LINE OF SEVERE TSTMS REACHED FROM E OF DETROIT SOUTHWESTWARD TO TX. I HAD TALKED TO COMPANY METEOROLOGY DEPT BEFORE DEP TO DETERMINE BEST ROUTING FOR TSTM AVOIDANCE. MY PLAN WAS TO FOLLOW NORMAL ROUTING OF DIRECT LAKELAND. J73 - J119 TAYLOR, J85 DRYER, V26 TRIPE X, DIRECT DETROIT. THIS ROUTING WOULD KEEP US E OF WX UNTIL ABOUT DRYER (CLEVELAND) AND THEN DEVIATIONS AS NEEDED TO DETROIT. UPON TAXIING OUT AT FT MYERS GND CTL CALLED US WITH A REROUTING WHICH WOULD CARRY US OVER ATLANTA, BOWLING GREEN, FT WAYNE, AND INTO DETROIT FROM THE SW. WE WERE TOLD THE REROUTING WAS BECAUSE OF FLOW CTL INTO DETROIT. MY PLAN WAS TO HAVE OUR CLRNC CHANGED BACK TO OUR ORIGINAL ROUTING ONCE WE WERE LEVEL AT CRUISING ALT (33,000'). MY FIRST REQUEST WAS TO MIA CENTER, DENIED DUE TO FLOW CTL. MY SECOND ATTEMPT WITH JAX CENTER WAS DENIED FOR THE SAME REASON. FINALLY, ALT CENTER APPROVED OUR REQUEST WITHOUT HESITATION AND WE HAD A GOOD RIDE TO DTW. AS WE PASSED E OF ATLANTA WE HEARD ATL CENTER GIVE HOLDING INSTRUCTIONS TO ACFT INBND TO ATL. THIS WAS DUE TO A LEVEL 5 TSTM OVER ATL ARPT. TORNADOES AND SEVERE WX WERE REPORTED ALL ALONG WHAT WOULD HAVE BEEN OUR ROUTE IF WE HAD FOLLOWED ATC ROUTING. MY COMPLAINT IS BEING GIVEN A FLT PLAN THROUGH SUCH KNOWN CONDITIONS. WHO IS BEHIND IT AND WHY? THIS IS THE SECOND OCCURRENCE IN 6 MONTHS.
