Narrative:

Event occurred during parking at gate. We had two wing walkers and a marshaller. Marshaller gave signal to move right. As soon as I started moving right; the marshaller gave signal to move left. Marshaller seemed confused about the direction he wanted us to move and eventually gave signal to stop. Aircraft was stopped. Another ramp agent approached the marshaller and they had a brief discussion. Second agent took over marshaling duties. Marshaller indicated that we needed to come left. I moved aircraft left and then followed guidance to move aircraft forward. Marshaller gave stop signal and I stopped aircraft and set brakes. Parking checklist was called for and completed. I noticed that jetway was not being moved to aircraft. I called operations and requested a jetway driver. I made a PA to the passengers letting them know a jetway driver was on the way. At this point; an off-duty pilot; who had been traveling in coach; on the left side of the aircraft; approached the flight deck and informed me that the left wing had made contact with the jet bridge.communication was established with ramp personnel. We had to wait for maintenance to give the 'ok' to move the aircraft. We were told that we had been guided to park at the 757 parking line; which is about 15 feet forward of the A319/320 line. Once released by maintenance; aircraft was pushed back; under tow; to the proper parking line. Jet bridge was brought up to aircraft and passengers deplaned. Termination checklist was called for and completed.
