Narrative:

This was the first leg of a 4-DAY trip. My second officer had only a couple of months with the company. He had finished his second officer training on the large transport and then only flew a trip or 2, when he began widebody transport second officer training. When he became part of my crew, he had just completed the widebody transport ground school and had not flown an large transport trip for 6 weeks. From the very beginning, it was obvious he was a weak crew member on the large transport. Once in-flight, it became even more obvious as more and more mistakes were made. The mistake this report pertains to, is not notifying the F/a's of our landing -- a second officer's responsibility. All F/a's were standing on landing. Note: I had the second officer replaced the second day of the trip. Possible solution: our company requires all new capts in their first 100 hours to have additional instruction if they don't fly for 15 days. Perhaps this rule should apply for all crew members.

Title: FLT ATTENDANTS NOT ADVISED PRIOR TO LNDG ON LGT.

Narrative: THIS WAS THE FIRST LEG OF A 4-DAY TRIP. MY S/O HAD ONLY A COUPLE OF MONTHS WITH THE COMPANY. HE HAD FINISHED HIS S/O TRAINING ON THE LGT AND THEN ONLY FLEW A TRIP OR 2, WHEN HE BEGAN WDB S/O TRAINING. WHEN HE BECAME PART OF MY CREW, HE HAD JUST COMPLETED THE WDB GND SCHOOL AND HAD NOT FLOWN AN LGT TRIP FOR 6 WEEKS. FROM THE VERY BEGINNING, IT WAS OBVIOUS HE WAS A WEAK CREW MEMBER ON THE LGT. ONCE INFLT, IT BECAME EVEN MORE OBVIOUS AS MORE AND MORE MISTAKES WERE MADE. THE MISTAKE THIS REPORT PERTAINS TO, IS NOT NOTIFYING THE F/A'S OF OUR LNDG -- A S/O'S RESPONSIBILITY. ALL F/A'S WERE STANDING ON LNDG. NOTE: I HAD THE S/O REPLACED THE SECOND DAY OF THE TRIP. POSSIBLE SOLUTION: OUR COMPANY REQUIRES ALL NEW CAPTS IN THEIR FIRST 100 HRS TO HAVE ADDITIONAL INSTRUCTION IF THEY DON'T FLY FOR 15 DAYS. PERHAPS THIS RULE SHOULD APPLY FOR ALL CREW MEMBERS.
