Narrative:

I reported into teb tower and advised I was approximately 12 mi out northwest of the airport and landing. In response the tower advised me to report 5 mi northwest of airport. Approximately 4 mins later I reported 5 mi northwest of airport and was thereupon advised to report west of the abc tower and to be aware that an small transport jet Y was taking off on runway 6. Although reported on ATIS as 5 mi visibility, in vicinity of airport it appeared to be about 3 mi visibility due to haze. Approximately 2 mins later, I saw a jet below and to my left, making a climbing left turn on what appeared to be a collision course. The jet was approximately 1 mi or less from me. I assume the jet was the small transport Y about which I was advised by the tower. At the time of my first visibility contact, I was approximately 1400' MSL and descending to pattern altitude. The jet continued its left climbing turn to the point it was obvious that the jet pilots did not see me and had apparently not been warned by departure control. From the time of my first sighting the jet was never on the tower frequency. I never received any warning of the jet traffic by the control tower after my first contact with the jet. It was necessary for me to take an immediate evasive maneuver by making a steep descending right turn to allow sufficient clearance between aircraft. At approximately 1100' MSL, the jet passed behind me and to my left. The reason for this report is not because I consider the incident a near miss, but because it was obvious the jet never saw my aircraft and was apparently never warned of my presence by ATC. Apparently the jet was on departure frequency and I was on tower frequency. I was squawking 1200, so both the jet and I should have received a warning. In congested areas such as teb, there should be coordination between tower, approach and departure frequencys for VFR traffic, as well as IFR.

Title: SMA TWIN ON APCH HAS CONFLICT WITH BUSINESS JET DEP.

Narrative: I RPTED INTO TEB TWR AND ADVISED I WAS APPROX 12 MI OUT NW OF THE ARPT AND LNDG. IN RESPONSE THE TWR ADVISED ME TO RPT 5 MI NW OF ARPT. APPROX 4 MINS LATER I RPTED 5 MI NW OF ARPT AND WAS THEREUPON ADVISED TO RPT W OF THE ABC TWR AND TO BE AWARE THAT AN SMT JET Y WAS TAKING OFF ON RWY 6. ALTHOUGH RPTED ON ATIS AS 5 MI VISIBILITY, IN VICINITY OF ARPT IT APPEARED TO BE ABOUT 3 MI VISIBILITY DUE TO HAZE. APPROX 2 MINS LATER, I SAW A JET BELOW AND TO MY LEFT, MAKING A CLBING LEFT TURN ON WHAT APPEARED TO BE A COLLISION COURSE. THE JET WAS APPROX 1 MI OR LESS FROM ME. I ASSUME THE JET WAS THE SMT Y ABOUT WHICH I WAS ADVISED BY THE TWR. AT THE TIME OF MY FIRST VIS CONTACT, I WAS APPROX 1400' MSL AND DSNDING TO PATTERN ALT. THE JET CONTINUED ITS LEFT CLBING TURN TO THE POINT IT WAS OBVIOUS THAT THE JET PLTS DID NOT SEE ME AND HAD APPARENTLY NOT BEEN WARNED BY DEP CTL. FROM THE TIME OF MY FIRST SIGHTING THE JET WAS NEVER ON THE TWR FREQ. I NEVER RECEIVED ANY WARNING OF THE JET TFC BY THE CTL TWR AFTER MY FIRST CONTACT WITH THE JET. IT WAS NECESSARY FOR ME TO TAKE AN IMMEDIATE EVASIVE MANEUVER BY MAKING A STEEP DSNDING RIGHT TURN TO ALLOW SUFFICIENT CLRNC BTWN ACFT. AT APPROX 1100' MSL, THE JET PASSED BEHIND ME AND TO MY LEFT. THE REASON FOR THIS RPT IS NOT BECAUSE I CONSIDER THE INCIDENT A NEAR MISS, BUT BECAUSE IT WAS OBVIOUS THE JET NEVER SAW MY ACFT AND WAS APPARENTLY NEVER WARNED OF MY PRESENCE BY ATC. APPARENTLY THE JET WAS ON DEP FREQ AND I WAS ON TWR FREQ. I WAS SQUAWKING 1200, SO BOTH THE JET AND I SHOULD HAVE RECEIVED A WARNING. IN CONGESTED AREAS SUCH AS TEB, THERE SHOULD BE COORD BTWN TWR, APCH AND DEP FREQS FOR VFR TFC, AS WELL AS IFR.
