OJT instruction in progress. The developmental transposed call signs. He turned the wrong aircraft air carrier X accidentally. By the time the problem was noticed, air carrier X passed through his final and separation was lost with air carrier Y.

Title: LESS THAN STANDARD SEPARATION BETWEEN ACR X AND ACR Y. SYSTEM ERROR.
Narrative: OJT INSTRUCTION IN PROGRESS. THE DEVELOPMENTAL TRANSPOSED CALL SIGNS. HE TURNED THE WRONG ACFT ACR X ACCIDENTALLY. BY THE TIME THE PROBLEM WAS NOTICED, ACR X PASSED THROUGH HIS FINAL AND SEPARATION WAS LOST WITH ACR Y.
