Narrative:

I was told to report downwind. I heard another plane making an approach and one making touch and go lndgs. My next report was 2 mi south center of the runway, turning downwind, and the tower was clearing the plane making touch and go's to land. After I reported, the sequence was changed and I was cleared to make short approach. I never saw the other 2 planes. I thought that I had put the gear down and reached for the flaps. I was busy looking for the other planes and concentrating on the runway. I made an excellent approach to the center of the runway. With my earphones on I could hear the horn, but I always hear the stall horn on landing. Then I heard the metal scrape. I should have put the gear down 5 mi out to complete my checklist. This would stop the confusion in the traffic pattern.
