Narrative:

While cruising at FL390 wbound on the air 085 degree right, approximately the 50 DME, an area of WX was observed ahead containing several thunderstorm cells. These cells were also painted on radar as lying across our intended flight path. After informing ATC that we intended to deviate south (30 to 40 degrees left turn), and that information was acknowledged by ATC, ATC then queried a couple of flts ahead of us about their 'ride.' they reported light chop and ATC then tried to get me to return to the original course based on what the other flts had reported. I replied that I was happy those other flts were having no problem, but that we would continue to circumnav the area of thunderstorms. At that point, ATC become abusive and coercive, saying that if I did not return to the original course (and fly through the thunderstorms), he would 'have to report it.' at that time I told ATC that I was flying a course dictated by considerations for safety of flight, and whatever he did was up to him. I have never, in 24 yrs of airline flying, heard a controller behave in such a manner. I also believe that there are capts out there who would have been intimidated by this controller and flown through an area(south) of storms such as this. I believed the recent incident in cuban airspace is an example (there were injuries). I hope you people are aware that the complexion of the us air carrier's has changed drastically in the last few yrs (pilots with pig tails, rings in their noses, homosexuals in the cockpit as pilots, pilots with sex-change operations and dozens of other standards changes which adversely affect safety) and safety is deteriorating.

Title: WDB DEVIATING WX WITH CTLR APPROVAL TOLD TO RETURN TO COURSE. CAPT STATED COULD NOT DUE TO SAFETY FACTORS. CTLR THREATENED TO REPORT IT IF HE DID NOT.

Narrative: WHILE CRUISING AT FL390 WBOUND ON THE AIR 085 DEG R, APPROX THE 50 DME, AN AREA OF WX WAS OBSERVED AHEAD CONTAINING SEVERAL TSTM CELLS. THESE CELLS WERE ALSO PAINTED ON RADAR AS LYING ACROSS OUR INTENDED FLT PATH. AFTER INFORMING ATC THAT WE INTENDED TO DEVIATE S (30 TO 40 DEGS LEFT TURN), AND THAT INFO WAS ACKNOWLEDGED BY ATC, ATC THEN QUERIED A COUPLE OF FLTS AHEAD OF US ABOUT THEIR 'RIDE.' THEY RPTED LIGHT CHOP AND ATC THEN TRIED TO GET ME TO RETURN TO THE ORIGINAL COURSE BASED ON WHAT THE OTHER FLTS HAD RPTED. I REPLIED THAT I WAS HAPPY THOSE OTHER FLTS WERE HAVING NO PROB, BUT THAT WE WOULD CONTINUE TO CIRCUMNAV THE AREA OF TSTMS. AT THAT POINT, ATC BECOME ABUSIVE AND COERCIVE, SAYING THAT IF I DID NOT RETURN TO THE ORIGINAL COURSE (AND FLY THROUGH THE TSTMS), HE WOULD 'HAVE TO RPT IT.' AT THAT TIME I TOLD ATC THAT I WAS FLYING A COURSE DICTATED BY CONSIDERATIONS FOR SAFETY OF FLT, AND WHATEVER HE DID WAS UP TO HIM. I HAVE NEVER, IN 24 YRS OF AIRLINE FLYING, HEARD A CTLR BEHAVE IN SUCH A MANNER. I ALSO BELIEVE THAT THERE ARE CAPTS OUT THERE WHO WOULD HAVE BEEN INTIMIDATED BY THIS CTLR AND FLOWN THROUGH AN AREA(S) OF STORMS SUCH AS THIS. I BELIEVED THE RECENT INCIDENT IN CUBAN AIRSPACE IS AN EXAMPLE (THERE WERE INJURIES). I HOPE YOU PEOPLE ARE AWARE THAT THE COMPLEXION OF THE U.S. ACR'S HAS CHANGED DRASTICALLY IN THE LAST FEW YRS (PLTS WITH PIG TAILS, RINGS IN THEIR NOSES, HOMOSEXUALS IN THE COCKPIT AS PLTS, PLTS WITH SEX-CHANGE OPERATIONS AND DOZENS OF OTHER STANDARDS CHANGES WHICH ADVERSELY AFFECT SAFETY) AND SAFETY IS DETERIORATING.
