Narrative:

Landing 28R sfo, tower said, 'plan turn-off as soon as possible, aircraft 2 mi behind.' on T/D tower said, 'plan next turn-off' (90 degrees, not high speed turn-off). Traffic over the lights. Tower (controller) was so concerned about traffic at my 6 O'clock, he forgot to tell me to hold short of 28L at sfo. As I started to cross 28L, air carrier heavy was on landing roll and crossed in front of me, traveling about 100 KTS. We missed, but this could have been disaster, 300-400 dead. I looked left prior to crossing and that's when I saw heavy. He filled my window. Tower should have told second aircraft to go around. Bad/dangerous incident. Controller should have been more assertive with second aircraft.
