Narrative:

I turned final for runway 23 and used the VASI to establish my glide path to the runway. My indicated airspeed was 90 mph with flaps set at 15 degree, which is a little faster than the 80 mph I usually fly with this flap setting. I prefer partial to full flaps because small aircraft tend to 'float' when landing with full flaps. I was halfway down the 3000' runway before the wheels touched, and the plane 'bounced' several times. I was unhappy with this landing, so I taxied back and flew the pattern one more time. I stayed below the VASI this time (red over red) and after I had shut down on the ramp that I discovered the propeller tips had been damaged by the first landing. I believe this could have been avoided if the glide slope of the VASI had brought me closer to the runway and if I had maintained 80 mph IAS instead of 90 mph IAS.

Title: SMA BOUNCED OM LNDG. PLT MADE SECOND LNDG STAYING BELOW VASI ON APCH. PROPELLER DAMAGE DETECTED AFTER SHUTDOWN.

Narrative: I TURNED FINAL FOR RWY 23 AND USED THE VASI TO ESTABLISH MY GLIDE PATH TO THE RWY. MY INDICATED AIRSPEED WAS 90 MPH WITH FLAPS SET AT 15 DEG, WHICH IS A LITTLE FASTER THAN THE 80 MPH I USUALLY FLY WITH THIS FLAP SETTING. I PREFER PARTIAL TO FULL FLAPS BECAUSE SMA TEND TO 'FLOAT' WHEN LNDG WITH FULL FLAPS. I WAS HALFWAY DOWN THE 3000' RWY BEFORE THE WHEELS TOUCHED, AND THE PLANE 'BOUNCED' SEVERAL TIMES. I WAS UNHAPPY WITH THIS LNDG, SO I TAXIED BACK AND FLEW THE PATTERN ONE MORE TIME. I STAYED BELOW THE VASI THIS TIME (RED OVER RED) AND AFTER I HAD SHUT DOWN ON THE RAMP THAT I DISCOVERED THE PROP TIPS HAD BEEN DAMAGED BY THE FIRST LNDG. I BELIEVE THIS COULD HAVE BEEN AVOIDED IF THE GLIDE SLOPE OF THE VASI HAD BROUGHT ME CLOSER TO THE RWY AND IF I HAD MAINTAINED 80 MPH IAS INSTEAD OF 90 MPH IAS.
