I was descending to an assigned altitude of 12000'. VFR traffic was pointed out by ATC at 12500', +/-100'. I recognized potential conflict and asked for heading change. Controller gave me 13000'. I was at 13000', +/-100' descending when 13000' was assigned. I stopped descent at 12600', +/-100'. Traffic (small transport) passed from right to left (he was not on same frequency).
