Narrative:

On course of 070 degree was vectored south of thunderstorm at 12 O'clock. Vector given was 120 degree. Remained on course of 120 degree until I thought I was past cell. I requested an easterly heading to parallel original course. Center gave me a course of 040 degree which placed aircraft inside cell. Center requested that I maintain altitude of 9000' while my vsi was pegged at 2000 FPM climb. I told them unable. Aircraft was flown to keep nose level attitude. Center should have asked to confirm my request before giving vector. I should have refused vector and requested 070 degree to 090 degree course.
