Narrative:
Our originating flight was delayed over four hours out of ZZZ. Company maintenance was working the problem of a fuel leak on the number 2 (right) engine. Company maintenance signed-off the leak as 'within limits' on the [log] page prior to the contract maintenance write-up stating that the leak was out of limits. We questioned the mechanic about the seemingly backwards write-up; and were told that it was satisfactory. Upon arriving at ZZZ1; the engine was still leaking and maintenance informed us that the write-up was not satisfactory and the aircraft was taken out of service. [Recommend to] double check with maintenance control if you have questions. Improper mechanic logbook sign-off.
