Narrative:

The captain I was flying with was new to the medium large transport. He became absorbed in observing my use of the autoplt and non flying duties and failed to switch from approach control to the tower. I failed to notice that we never made the frequency change and landed without a landing clearance. I have since added a landing clearance check in my 500' callouts. Supplemental information from acn 117280: during my first line trip after line training, we were doing an instrument approach to san and I failed to switch to tower for landing clearance. No conflict occurred. My inexperience in the aircraft caused me to focus more than normal attention to the IFR approach.
