Narrative:

After pushback, bos ground cleared us to taxi to runway 9 via inner, bravo, sierra 1, hold short of runway 4L. Runway 4L and runway 9 each have a displaced threshold that cross each other. On the taxiway runway 9 comes first. As we crossed the runway 9 hold short line, ground informed us to hold our position as that also served as runway 4L hold short line. We were looking for the runway 4L hold short line as he made the statement. We saw no signs indicating it was the hold short line for runway 4L. There was no conflict to my knowledge. The problem is identifying the holding point for runway 4L. The charts and taxiway markings all lead you to believe that you should hold short after crossing runway 9 threshold before turning the corner. I suggest to resolve this problem that a point be designated and labeled say 'point bravo'. The taxi clearance would then be 'taxi to point bravo via XXX' or 'taxi to wy 9 via XXX, hold short at point bravo'. Of course, point bravo being the runway 9/4L hold short line. This will eliminate the confusion as to where the 4L hold short line is.

Title: FLT CREW OF MLG CLEARED TO HOLD SHORT OF RWY 4, TAXIED PAST HOLD LINE FOR RWY 9 AT BOS. TWR GND CTLR ADVISED HOLD LINE FOR 9 WAS ALSO HOLD LINE FOR 4.

Narrative: AFTER PUSHBACK, BOS GND CLRED US TO TAXI TO RWY 9 VIA INNER, BRAVO, SIERRA 1, HOLD SHORT OF RWY 4L. RWY 4L AND RWY 9 EACH HAVE A DISPLACED THRESHOLD THAT CROSS EACH OTHER. ON THE TXWY RWY 9 COMES FIRST. AS WE CROSSED THE RWY 9 HOLD SHORT LINE, GND INFORMED US TO HOLD OUR POSITION AS THAT ALSO SERVED AS RWY 4L HOLD SHORT LINE. WE WERE LOOKING FOR THE RWY 4L HOLD SHORT LINE AS HE MADE THE STATEMENT. WE SAW NO SIGNS INDICATING IT WAS THE HOLD SHORT LINE FOR RWY 4L. THERE WAS NO CONFLICT TO MY KNOWLEDGE. THE PROBLEM IS IDENTIFYING THE HOLDING POINT FOR RWY 4L. THE CHARTS AND TXWY MARKINGS ALL LEAD YOU TO BELIEVE THAT YOU SHOULD HOLD SHORT AFTER XING RWY 9 THRESHOLD BEFORE TURNING THE CORNER. THIS WILL ELIMINATE THE CONFUSION AS TO WHERE THE 4L HOLD SHORT LINE IS.
