Narrative:

I was inbound to ind on flight from dca. Ind was landing runway 31 as runway 4/22 was closed for maintenance. Landing was normal. The aircraft was stopped just past the high-speed turn-off just after the intersection of runway 4/22. A short 180 degree turn was requested. As the aircraft was making the 180, the nose gear dropped off of the paved surface of the runway and cocked past the steering range of the gear. The tower was notified as was my company operations. A tug with towbar was dispatched to our location. The aircraft nose gear was pulled back onto the runway and the aircraft was towed to the company gate. The aircraft was inspected during the night and no damage to the nosegear or steering was found.
