Narrative:

During final approach using weight data supplied by the company and with airplane configured for landing and at our final approach speed, my speed command was indicating 1 1/2 DOT low. The airplane was almost at maximum landing weight and I therefore adjusted the approach speed up another 5 KTS. Normal approach speed is vref plus 5 and I am now maintaining vref plus 10. During my flare and when the vertical descent was sufficiently reduced the power was cut and the airplane landed, somewhat beyond the touchdown zone. My concern is that the weights being used as average are not realistic and with the procedures being circumvented, that occasionally I am flying airplanes whose weight varies significantly from the weight and balance form.

Title: PLT ON APCH NOTICES THAT FLT DIRECTOR SPEED COMMAND (DRIVEN BY ANGLE OF ATTACK INDICATOR) SHOWS COMPUTED REFERENCE SPEED FOR LNDG WEIGHT TO BE LOW. REPORTER QUERIES THE VERACITY OF COMPANY SUPPLIED WEIGHT DATA.

Narrative: DURING FINAL APCH USING WEIGHT DATA SUPPLIED BY THE COMPANY AND WITH AIRPLANE CONFIGURED FOR LNDG AND AT OUR FINAL APCH SPEED, MY SPEED COMMAND WAS INDICATING 1 1/2 DOT LOW. THE AIRPLANE WAS ALMOST AT MAX LNDG WEIGHT AND I THEREFORE ADJUSTED THE APCH SPEED UP ANOTHER 5 KTS. NORMAL APCH SPEED IS VREF PLUS 5 AND I AM NOW MAINTAINING VREF PLUS 10. DURING MY FLARE AND WHEN THE VERTICAL DSCNT WAS SUFFICIENTLY REDUCED THE POWER WAS CUT AND THE AIRPLANE LANDED, SOMEWHAT BEYOND THE TOUCHDOWN ZONE. MY CONCERN IS THAT THE WEIGHTS BEING USED AS AVERAGE ARE NOT REALISTIC AND WITH THE PROCS BEING CIRCUMVENTED, THAT OCCASIONALLY I AM FLYING AIRPLANES WHOSE WEIGHT VARIES SIGNIFICANTLY FROM THE WEIGHT AND BALANCE FORM.
