Narrative:

During takeoff the engine left compressor stall level 2 alert displayed. This was accompanied by two loud bangs; vibration and loss of thrust on the left engine. We initiated the abort at approximately 120 kts and stopped on the runaway. After having the airport fire department inspect the tires and aft section of the plane for visible damage and shutting down the engine; we returned to the gate.

Title: A B717 EICAS alerted ENG LEFT COMPRESSOR STALL in conjunction with two loud bangs; vibration and loss of engine thrust so the Captain rejected the takeoff at 120 KTS; had the aircraft inspected and returned to the gate.
