Narrative:

We had passed taxiway right and were short of taxiway T when the captain set the parking brake. We wished to verify the taxi instruction with ramp; but the ramp frequency was congested. While we waited to talk to the ramp controller; an md-80 cleared runway 27R onto taxiway T and then left towards taxiway TA. The md-80's right wingtip cleared our aircraft's nose by no more than a few yards. Since we were parked on taxiway K between taxiways right and T; the distance for the md-80 to visibly clear our aircraft was in question. We proceeded to our assigned gate after an aircraft cleared the alleyway.
