Narrative:

Cleared to land by tower at the 'a' and 'east' taxiway intersection, taxiway east into the FBO is FBO property. The surface was breaking up and was marked closed by agreement with the airport manager to avoid damage to ground taxiing aircraft. I approached to a hover and notified the tower I wanted to park at the FBO. Tower instructed me to contact the FBO for parking instructions. The FBO told me where to park but did not specify a route so I hovered over the closed taxiway. Loose sand and gravel was blown into an open hangar door and several parked aircraft. An alternate route to the same parking spot was available via an airport controled taxiway and over a grass area. As I was instructed by the tower to contact the FBO for parking instruction, I inferred the intended routing to be over the FBO controled taxiway. Flight over a closed taxiway not being the same as taxiing on the surface. Upon leaving mmu I called the tower while on the FBO ramp for taxi instructions to the 'a-east' departure point, specifically asking how he wanted me to route to 'a-east' (along taxiway east or across the grass). Tower gave no guidance and cleared me hover to 'a-east'. I retraced my path past the hangar and subsequently received a phone complaint from the hangar occupant of sand and gravel being blown over parked aircraft from a closed taxiway. He said there was some damage to aircraft but of no consequence. I apologized and we agreed a notice would be placed on our bulletin board to avoid a repetition of the incident.

Title: HELICOPTER TAXIING (IN AIR) BLOWS SAND AND GRAVEL OVER OTHER ACFT CAUSING SOME MINOR DAMAGE.

Narrative: CLRED TO LAND BY TWR AT THE 'A' AND 'E' TXWY INTXN, TXWY E INTO THE FBO IS FBO PROPERTY. THE SURFACE WAS BREAKING UP AND WAS MARKED CLOSED BY AGREEMENT WITH THE ARPT MGR TO AVOID DAMAGE TO GND TAXIING ACFT. I APCHED TO A HOVER AND NOTIFIED THE TWR I WANTED TO PARK AT THE FBO. TWR INSTRUCTED ME TO CONTACT THE FBO FOR PARKING INSTRUCTIONS. THE FBO TOLD ME WHERE TO PARK BUT DID NOT SPECIFY A ROUTE SO I HOVERED OVER THE CLOSED TXWY. LOOSE SAND AND GRAVEL WAS BLOWN INTO AN OPEN HANGAR DOOR AND SEVERAL PARKED ACFT. AN ALTERNATE ROUTE TO THE SAME PARKING SPOT WAS AVAILABLE VIA AN ARPT CTLED TXWY AND OVER A GRASS AREA. AS I WAS INSTRUCTED BY THE TWR TO CONTACT THE FBO FOR PARKING INSTRUCTION, I INFERRED THE INTENDED ROUTING TO BE OVER THE FBO CTLED TXWY. FLT OVER A CLOSED TXWY NOT BEING THE SAME AS TAXIING ON THE SURFACE. UPON LEAVING MMU I CALLED THE TWR WHILE ON THE FBO RAMP FOR TAXI INSTRUCTIONS TO THE 'A-E' DEP POINT, SPECIFICALLY ASKING HOW HE WANTED ME TO ROUTE TO 'A-E' (ALONG TXWY E OR ACROSS THE GRASS). TWR GAVE NO GUIDANCE AND CLRED ME HOVER TO 'A-E'. I RETRACED MY PATH PAST THE HANGAR AND SUBSEQUENTLY RECEIVED A PHONE COMPLAINT FROM THE HANGAR OCCUPANT OF SAND AND GRAVEL BEING BLOWN OVER PARKED ACFT FROM A CLOSED TXWY. HE SAID THERE WAS SOME DAMAGE TO ACFT BUT OF NO CONSEQUENCE. I APOLOGIZED AND WE AGREED A NOTICE WOULD BE PLACED ON OUR BULLETIN BOARD TO AVOID A REPETITION OF THE INCIDENT.
