Narrative:

During cruise; the following mechanical issues occurred simultaneously: pitch trim 2 off; ats 1 off; FD 2 inoperative and stby pitot heat inoperative. We notified maintenance control via ACARS and asked operations if they wanted us to continue to our destination or divert to the destination of our next leg due to better maintenance support. They elected to divert us. No emergency was declared. Upon landing and after maintenance was performed our trip was revised to fly from to our original destination and return to the diversion airport; our original second leg destination. The captain discussed concerns about legalities with scheduling and the duty officer; who both assured him that we were legal to complete the assignment. After takeoff; however; all of the same problems from the first leg came back and operations directed us to turn back. No emergency was declared and the air turn back was uneventful.
