Narrative:

While working the final approach position with my trnee, we were vectoring air carrier X for runway 20R and cga Y for runway 20L. The cga Y had been cleared for the visibility approach and traffic issued on air carrier. Cga Y stated he did not see air carrier X and advised us he was switched to the tower frequency. Neither my trnee nor I heard the transmission: 'going to the tower,' so thinking that cga Y was still with us, we turned air carrier X toward the runway and cleared him for the approach, issuing him traffic on cga Y. Air carrier X did not see cga Y and was told to contact the tower. With 4 mi between the aircraft, we started calling cga Y and issuing air carrier X as traffic so he could get him in sight. It was at this time we realized that cga Y was not on our frequency. We then called the tower for help with visibility sep. They could not provide it because of the haze and broke the cga Y out. Results: 2 mi between the aircraft when cga Y started his go around.

Title: SEPARATION WAS LOST BETWEEN CGA AND ACR WHILE ATTEMPTING TO ESTABLISH VISUAL SEPARATION.

Narrative: WHILE WORKING THE FINAL APCH POS WITH MY TRNEE, WE WERE VECTORING ACR X FOR RWY 20R AND CGA Y FOR RWY 20L. THE CGA Y HAD BEEN CLRED FOR THE VIS APCH AND TFC ISSUED ON ACR. CGA Y STATED HE DID NOT SEE ACR X AND ADVISED US HE WAS SWITCHED TO THE TWR FREQ. NEITHER MY TRNEE NOR I HEARD THE XMISSION: 'GOING TO THE TWR,' SO THINKING THAT CGA Y WAS STILL WITH US, WE TURNED ACR X TOWARD THE RWY AND CLRED HIM FOR THE APCH, ISSUING HIM TFC ON CGA Y. ACR X DID NOT SEE CGA Y AND WAS TOLD TO CONTACT THE TWR. WITH 4 MI BTWN THE ACFT, WE STARTED CALLING CGA Y AND ISSUING ACR X AS TFC SO HE COULD GET HIM IN SIGHT. IT WAS AT THIS TIME WE REALIZED THAT CGA Y WAS NOT ON OUR FREQ. WE THEN CALLED THE TWR FOR HELP WITH VIS SEP. THEY COULD NOT PROVIDE IT BECAUSE OF THE HAZE AND BROKE THE CGA Y OUT. RESULTS: 2 MI BTWN THE ACFT WHEN CGA Y STARTED HIS GAR.
