Narrative:

While in cruise flight; at approximately 130 KIAS; master caution light illuminated momentarily. Pilot identified 'xmsn chip' light as being associated. Pilot initially considered 'fuzz burn;' but light continued to flicker causing pilot to abort flight and return.... No emergency was declared. No special requests were made. Landing was uneventful.pilot followed company; FAA; and aircraft specific procedures. This occurrence was the result of an unforeseen maintenance malfunction.

Title: BK117 pilot experienced a Transmission Chip Detector warning in cruise flight and returned to base. Warning was determined to be an indicator malfunction.
