Narrative:

Departed lgb IFR with a clearance that read, 'cleared to stl via runway 12 for runway heading for radar vectors for the sxc 061 degree right to intercept the trm 263 degree right to trm, direct parker, as filed, maintain 3000'.' after departure coast approach gave us a heading of 180 degrees. Seconds later given a new heading of 090 degrees and a new altitude of 13000'. Seconds later approach informed that we penetrated restr area R2503 and told to climb to 16000'. We were never instructed to intercept any of the original clearance. When given a heading stay on that heading until otherwise instructed. Pilot's and copilot's only instructions heard and response only included heading changes and no radial interceptions. Coast approach flew us through R2503. A later sector told us not to worry, there was no problem.
