Narrative:

3 ship tactical formation flying low level route at 500' AGL. Attempted WX avoidance with 30 degree bank turn. Entered WX while in the turn. Called rollout heading 300 degrees. Started climb 1000' FPM. #2 called level 4500' sounded like in the clear. #1 and #3 continued climb at 5000'. Sun was visible above but did not break out on top until 10000'. Leveled at 11500', called for clearance. Supplemental information from acn 110760: problem was caused by failure to totally avoid an area where a snowstorm was in progress. Solution to our misfortunate situation is simple--if you cannot maintain VFR at all times, don't push it!!

LEVELED AT 11500', CALLED FOR CLRNC. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 110760: PROB WAS CAUSED BY FAILURE TO TOTALLY AVOID AN AREA WHERE A SNOWSTORM WAS IN PROGRESS. SOLUTION TO OUR MISFORTUNATE SITUATION IS SIMPLE--IF YOU CANNOT MAINTAIN VFR AT ALL TIMES, DON'T PUSH IT!!
