Narrative:

While waiting to dock the jet bridge onto an inbound flight; I observed the main cabin airstairs drop open immediately after the aircraft stopped. No chocked signal had been given to the crew prior to this. The airstairs had dropped onto a wheel chock and the flight attendant had to raise the airstairs back up so the ramp person could retrieve the chock and place at the nose gear. This was a close call in that the airstairs could have struck the ramp person retrieving the chocks.
