Narrative:

On climb out from jfk, ZNY asked us to climb at least 2500 FPM to FL230. We had been given FL230 earlier but we told them we could not climb at 2500 FPM up to FL230. We received no response. At 12000' we were given a level altitude of 13000' and a 20 degree turn to the left for climb. Moments later we were given a turn to the right and climb to 14000'. Before the turn was completed we were asked to turn left to 20 degrees. At that moment the second officer stated he was having a problem with the cabin pressurization. I turned around and saw the cabin going up 1500 FPM and down 500 FPM. At that moment the first officer stated, 'we were to level at 14000'.' we went through the altitude 14300' I returned to 14000', however not before center asked us what altitude we were at. Factors in the altitude excursion were: 3 turns, left then right, then left in short period of time; 3 altitude changes in a short period of time; the instability of cabin pressurization; a new large transport captain with less than 60 hours in left seat; a new large transport first officer with less than 40 hours in right seat; and a new large transport second officer with less than 30 hours in F/east seat.

Title: ACR LGT ALT DEVIATION OVERSHOT DURING CLIMB.

Narrative: ON CLBOUT FROM JFK, ZNY ASKED US TO CLB AT LEAST 2500 FPM TO FL230. WE HAD BEEN GIVEN FL230 EARLIER BUT WE TOLD THEM WE COULD NOT CLB AT 2500 FPM UP TO FL230. WE RECEIVED NO RESPONSE. AT 12000' WE WERE GIVEN A LEVEL ALT OF 13000' AND A 20 DEG TURN TO THE LEFT FOR CLB. MOMENTS LATER WE WERE GIVEN A TURN TO THE RIGHT AND CLB TO 14000'. BEFORE THE TURN WAS COMPLETED WE WERE ASKED TO TURN LEFT TO 20 DEGS. AT THAT MOMENT THE S/O STATED HE WAS HAVING A PROB WITH THE CABIN PRESSURIZATION. I TURNED AROUND AND SAW THE CABIN GOING UP 1500 FPM AND DOWN 500 FPM. AT THAT MOMENT THE F/O STATED, 'WE WERE TO LEVEL AT 14000'.' WE WENT THROUGH THE ALT 14300' I RETURNED TO 14000', HOWEVER NOT BEFORE CENTER ASKED US WHAT ALT WE WERE AT. FACTORS IN THE ALT EXCURSION WERE: 3 TURNS, LEFT THEN RIGHT, THEN LEFT IN SHORT PERIOD OF TIME; 3 ALT CHANGES IN A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME; THE INSTABILITY OF CABIN PRESSURIZATION; A NEW LGT CAPT WITH LESS THAN 60 HRS IN LEFT SEAT; A NEW LGT F/O WITH LESS THAN 40 HRS IN RIGHT SEAT; AND A NEW LGT S/O WITH LESS THAN 30 HRS IN F/E SEAT.
