Narrative:

Was scheduled off line and onto training schedule. Was at airport administering far part 61 type ratings aircraft (am designated pilot examiner). Crew scheduling asked if I could take a trip following day. Explained that I would need minimum rest of 8 hours after completing check rides. We delayed trip show time, as well as departure time, normal 45 mins after show time. Received 8 hours reduced rest. Flew 6.7 hours, scheduled 121 plus 3.9 part 91 for part 61 type rides that I had forgotten about for total of 10.6 hours flight time in 24 hour period. Should have had 9 hours reduced rest. Did receive 11 hours compensatory rest before reporting for flight duty the following day. Did not realize error until after we added up time flown for that day. It was not my intention to violate any far's, and I thought that we were ok. Crew scheduling assigned me to the duty knowing that I had flown the check rides plus they knew that the trip they assigned me to was more than 4.1 hours. My mistake was not thinking to check total time and including the check ride time. To correct this from happening again I would suggest that this company hire sufficient crews to adequately cover the flight schedule rather than always scrounging at the last minute to find a crew member. They are trying to cover an far 121 operation with less crews than they had when we were far 135. (We just changed over 3/89.)
