Narrative:

We had just departed ind after a refueling stop. When we reached cruise altitude, we noticed an hydraulic pressure loss. After reviewing our options, we determined it would be best to return to ind for 3 reasons: 1) a 10005' runway, 2) the WX was VFR, and 3) to reduce our fuel weight. We request a lower altitude in order to consume a higher rate of fuel burn. The landing was uneventful and all backup systems worked properly. We requested emergency equipment to standby but did not declare an emergency nor ask for special handling. Since the nose wheel steering was inoperative from the hydraulic leak, the local FBO towed us from the runway to their ramp. The next morning we inspected the aircraft and determined the hydraulic loss was a rupture in the baggage area. Earlier that morning the FAA inspected the aircraft and noted the missing radar indicators which had been removed for repair. The proper entries are in the log books as it applies to removal of the radar. Everything appears to be in order, but I am still receiving calls from the ind GADO asking other questions that seem unrelated to the occurrence.

Title: ACFT EXPERIENCED HYDRAULIC SYSTEM LOSS OF PRESSURE.

Narrative: WE HAD JUST DEPARTED IND AFTER A REFUELING STOP. WHEN WE REACHED CRUISE ALT, WE NOTICED AN HYD PRESSURE LOSS. AFTER REVIEWING OUR OPTIONS, WE DETERMINED IT WOULD BE BEST TO RETURN TO IND FOR 3 REASONS: 1) A 10005' RWY, 2) THE WX WAS VFR, AND 3) TO REDUCE OUR FUEL WT. WE REQUEST A LOWER ALT IN ORDER TO CONSUME A HIGHER RATE OF FUEL BURN. THE LNDG WAS UNEVENTFUL AND ALL BACKUP SYSTEMS WORKED PROPERLY. WE REQUESTED EMER EQUIP TO STANDBY BUT DID NOT DECLARE AN EMER NOR ASK FOR SPECIAL HANDLING. SINCE THE NOSE WHEEL STEERING WAS INOP FROM THE HYD LEAK, THE LCL FBO TOWED US FROM THE RWY TO THEIR RAMP. THE NEXT MORNING WE INSPECTED THE ACFT AND DETERMINED THE HYD LOSS WAS A RUPTURE IN THE BAGGAGE AREA. EARLIER THAT MORNING THE FAA INSPECTED THE ACFT AND NOTED THE MISSING RADAR INDICATORS WHICH HAD BEEN REMOVED FOR REPAIR.
