Narrative:

I had received clearance to land and had been advised traffic position behind a mooney on base leg which I had observed when another aircraft overtook me on the final approach track; about 100 feet directly above me and landed in front of me. I initiated a go-around just before the threshold; called by ATC; and completed a visual circuit and landing. The airport environment had seemed very busy with multiple inbound and pattern traffic from different directions.
