Narrative:

I crossed the hold short line about ten feet. I thought that the short line was further; but I know that it was not. The plane in front of me had stopped around the corner and that caused me to think it was around the hold short line around the corner. I know that it is where it is. [I should have] told the first officer what I am doing like; 'I am going to taxi around the corner and stop.'

Title: A B737 failed to stop at the DAL Runway 13R hold short line; because both pilots saw another aircraft turn the corner toward the runway and were inattentive to the line's great distance from the runway.

Narrative: I crossed the hold short line about ten feet. I thought that the short line was further; but I know that it was not. The plane in front of me had stopped around the corner and that caused me to think it was around the hold short line around the corner. I know that it is where it is. [I should have] told the First Officer what I am doing like; 'I am going to taxi around the corner and stop.'
