Narrative:

Just before flare for landing on 26R tower called 'go around.' we retracted flaps and gear and started a 'tight' turn (tower's request) to 070 degree heading. As I climbed through 7000' MSL the PNF called '7000.' I had not heard an altitude from tower, but I started a level off. The high rate of climb in the light light transport carried me to 7600' before I reversed the direction and returned to 7000'. Then my copilot called stop turn at 350 degrees. Since I had again not heard this from tower, I asked him if he was sure and he affirmed. This required a left turn back to 350 degrees and put me near the 35 departure runways, a position I was not comfortable with. The tower then vectored us for a left 270 degree turn back to land on 17L. On landing the tower asked for a call and then apologized for a trnee on local control. I also apologized for our sloppy miss procedure. In the conversation the tower supervisor suggested that the 350 degree heading was for another aircraft and my copilot heard only part of the call as he changed frequencys to 119.5 for the north runways. (The 'go around' came when the trnee cleared heavy transport across the far end of 26R as we approached flare.)

Title: CPR LTT ALT DEVIATION AND HEADING DEVIATION DURING GO AROUND AS CALLED FOR BY ATCT LCL CTLR.

Narrative: JUST BEFORE FLARE FOR LNDG ON 26R TWR CALLED 'GO AROUND.' WE RETRACTED FLAPS AND GEAR AND STARTED A 'TIGHT' TURN (TWR'S REQUEST) TO 070 DEG HDG. AS I CLBED THROUGH 7000' MSL THE PNF CALLED '7000.' I HAD NOT HEARD AN ALT FROM TWR, BUT I STARTED A LEVEL OFF. THE HIGH RATE OF CLB IN THE LIGHT LTT CARRIED ME TO 7600' BEFORE I REVERSED THE DIRECTION AND RETURNED TO 7000'. THEN MY COPLT CALLED STOP TURN AT 350 DEGS. SINCE I HAD AGAIN NOT HEARD THIS FROM TWR, I ASKED HIM IF HE WAS SURE AND HE AFFIRMED. THIS REQUIRED A LEFT TURN BACK TO 350 DEGS AND PUT ME NEAR THE 35 DEP RWYS, A POS I WAS NOT COMFORTABLE WITH. THE TWR THEN VECTORED US FOR A LEFT 270 DEG TURN BACK TO LAND ON 17L. ON LNDG THE TWR ASKED FOR A CALL AND THEN APOLOGIZED FOR A TRNEE ON LCL CTL. I ALSO APOLOGIZED FOR OUR SLOPPY MISS PROC. IN THE CONVERSATION THE TWR SUPVR SUGGESTED THAT THE 350 DEG HDG WAS FOR ANOTHER ACFT AND MY COPLT HEARD ONLY PART OF THE CALL AS HE CHANGED FREQS TO 119.5 FOR THE N RWYS. (THE 'GO AROUND' CAME WHEN THE TRNEE CLRED HVT ACROSS THE FAR END OF 26R AS WE APCHED FLARE.)
