Narrative:
I lost heading information while shooting a VOR approach. I informed approach control that my heading information was unreliable. I was forced to choose between executing a missed approach with bad heading information or staying below the overcast and getting directional guidance from approach. I chose the latter and was successfully directed to the airport.
