Narrative:

In cruise at 17000' en route bak-clt, I saw military fgt traffic at 12 O'clock climbing approximately 5 mi away. Jax center then issued this traffic to us as an fgt climbing to 16000'. As this fgt passed off our left he appeared to be climbing through our 17000' altitude. I then asked jax center to confirm his 16000' MSL climb, as we did not seem to have 1000' separation. Center replied that the fgt altimeter was not advised properly.

Narrative: IN CRUISE AT 17000' ENRTE BAK-CLT, I SAW MIL FGT TFC AT 12 O'CLOCK CLIMBING APPROX 5 MI AWAY. JAX CENTER THEN ISSUED THIS TFC TO US AS AN FGT CLIMBING TO 16000'.
