Narrative:

On approach and selecting flaps from 1 to 5; EICAS message 'le flap disagree' appeared. The captain broke off the approach; declared an emergency; and we ran the QRH procedure. Upon completion of the checklist we maneuvered under radar vectors for a flaps 20 landing. Landed and cleared the runway and had the arff clear the gear/flaps area before continuing to the gate. Became aware today that this may be a NTSB reportable event and therefore the cvr circuit breaker should have pulled.
