Narrative:

It happened again; on descent with a crossing altitude 35 west of esl at FL250. We were descending to make the crossing restriction with captain flying with number 1 flight data and number 1 autopilot on. The aircraft leveled off 400 ft high and the captain's altitude window was set at 29.44 instead of standard. Captain said he did not push altitude button (taking it out of standard) and I did not see him touch alt button. Is this a default setting on some airbus? We quickly descended to FL250.
